During the winter, cold temperatures can make it hard to think of fun things to do. But we’ve got you covered with a list of activities that might grab your attention.

HAVE A YURT EXPERIENCE

One Woman Winery now has yurt seating options as a way to experience and enjoy any glass – or bottle – of wine while staying warm and dry. The cozy tents are available on a first-come, first-served basis and hold no more than four adults. (While there is no time limit, the winery prefers if customers do not exceed a 90-minute stay.).

A ROMANTIC BEACH HOUSE DINNER

Grace and Grit is hosting its pop ups once more, creating a special, unique and limited-time menu. On Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), they are offering an intimate dinner for two at the Lin Beach House with a four-course menu and cocktails provided by The Lin. Buy tickets here for $150.

TAROT CARD READING

The title alone is enough to spark intrigue. Madame Meesh is providing a tarot reading at Bridge Lane Tasting Room on Feb. 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. at $10 a reading with the purchase of wine.

ICE SKATING AT MITCHELL PARK

Mitchell Park in Greenport has opened its rink as of Jan. 15. Weather permitting, tickets on weekdays for adults are $5 and for those under 18 or seniors the tickets are $3. On weekends or holidays, adult tickets are $10 and for those under 18 and seniors, tickets are $7.

SCIENCE SATURDAYS

The Long Island Science Center hosts workshops every Saturday and each one has a different theme. Participants can explore subjects such as chemistry, physics, paleontology and more with various hands-on, interactive, instructor-led workshops. A family friendly experience purchased at a $5 ticket also pays for admission into the museum.

RACE TO THE FINISH IN A PINEWOOD CAR

Long Ireland Beer Company will host its Pintwood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 19. You can make your own pinewood car or buy a kit from Long Ireland’s Riverhead tasting room ahead of time. Register for this event (ages 21 and up) at longirelandbeer.com. Of course, there’s also plenty of beer involved.

WITNESS A TRUE STORY UNFOLD ONSTAGE

North Fork Community Theatre’s production of “The Laramie Project” premieres Friday, Feb. 25, and tells the true story of what happened in Laramie, Wyo., in the weeks and months after Matthew Shepard was killed in a hate crime there. The play dramatizes actual accounts and statements from locals and has a powerful message about acceptance and community. Visit nfct.com for tickets.

BEAUTIFUL WORKS OF ART INSPIRED BY AMERICAN FARMS

Alex Ferrone Gallery’s latest exhibit, “Farms Across America: National Small Works Exhibition,” is on display until Sunday, Feb. 13, in Cutchogue. This juried show features 55 mixed media pieces from 34 artists showcasing farms throughout the United States. Visit alexferronegallery.com for more information.

FIRESIDE FRIDAY

Mattebella Vineyard is continuing their Fireside Friday tradition of enjoying the vineyard’s delights during the colder weather sitting in front of warm fires on either their cozy outdoor deck or inside their heated igloos. Starting Feb. 28 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and lasting throughout the winter.

BLIZZARD BALL

Sound View in Greenport is hosting a one-night-only Blizzard Ball on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. with tickets costing $85, which you can buy here. The ball will have live music from Danny Lipsitz and the Brass Tacks – a group that blends traditional jazz, swing, and early rock ‘n’ roll – and will feature a midwinter’s festive feast created by The Halyard’s Chef Stephan Bogardus accompanied by desserts and drinks curated following the ball’s blizzard theme.
