Big events like Shellabration and Maritime Festival returned in 2021, but new ones popped up, too.

Brick Cove Marina in Southold began holding Family Fun Nights over the summer, offering food, beer, wine, live music and other activities at the waterfront property. Kids and grownups alike enjoyed lawn games and listened to local bands while enjoying food from local vendors and trucks, including the new Duck Yeah truck — yes, a duck food truck.

Just off Love Lane on Pike Street, popular fresh food cafe and market Goodfood began hosting tapas nights during the summer. “I wanted to provide the area with a place for a small bite and glass of wine after work or a day at the beach,” owner Luchi Masliah told Northforker. “Often times, you don’t want to have a full meal, but crave a little something that’s more than a sandwich and less than a three-course meal.”

The Spanish-infused menu included empanadas, a mini potato and egg omelet, anchovies marinated in vinegar, cured meats, cheese, breads and even salted cod from Spain. Masliah also stocked the tapas nights with some of her favorite wines, making for a lovely night out with (sorry, we can’t help ourselves) good food.
