WATCH A HOLIDAY PARADE AND MEET SANTA

Downtown Riverhead’s Holiday Parade and Bonfire kicks off Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Osborn Avenue and West Main Street. Afterward, sip free hot chocolate around a community campfire, meet Santa and his helpers and take photos. Check out downtownriverhead.org for the details. 

TASTE SHELLFISH AND CELEBRATE LOCAL CUISINE 

The Greenport Shellabration is back this year for its 10th anniversary on Dec. 4 and 5. Taste local shellfish in Greenport and support the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program’s SPAT and Back to the Bays Initiative. ROCK OUT TO LOCAL MUSICIANS IN A HOLIDAY SHOW

COSTUME BAR CRAWL IN RIVERHEAD

Three Riverhead breweries and a distillery are joining forces this Friday, Dec. 3 in an event that raises money to support the homeless. Holiday Hop tickets are being sold for $15 and they entitle you to drink specials from 6 to 9 p.m. at Montauk Distilling, North Fork Brewing, Peconic County Brewing and Tradewinds Brewing. There will also be after parties at Craft’d, Riverwalk and Digger’s until 11 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Riverhead BID and proceeds benefit Long Island Coalition for the Homeless. GET YOUR PET’S PHOTO TAKEN WITH SANTA

Talmage Farm Agway in Riverhead is once again hosting Santa Claus for our pets to have their photos taken with the very important VIP. It’s happening from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Schedule an appointment for your pet here.

MAKE WINE AT SANNINO VINEYARD

Sannino Vineyard co-owner and winemaker Anthony Sannino is taking guests on a tour of his vineyard and teaching them the winemaking process this Sunday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All throughout the tour you taste their current wine lineup to better understand the various methods of making unique styles of wine. After the tour, a light lunch is served. Then you learn how to blend your own custom bottle of wine. Each guest will be able to blend their own wine and take home a bottle. WORK UP A SWEAT FOR A GOOD CAUSE

HAVE BRUNCH WITH SANTA AT THE AQUARIUM

The Long Island Aquarium’s popular Santa Brunch is back this Sunday, Dec. 5 with seatings at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. It’s $60 for adults, $30 for kids 5-12 and $5 for children under 5 and includes entry to the aquarium, a special take-home holiday keepsake and time with Santa. FESTIVAL OF TREES RETURNS

CAST, the Center for Advocacy, Support and Transformation will hold its second annual North Fork Festival of Trees at Treiber Farms in Peconic this Saturday and Sunday Dec. 4-5. A fun and family-friendly event, the festival showcases creativity and brings the community together in a spirit of holiday celebration and giving. Here’s how it works: Twenty-two local businesses, artists and generous individuals are supplied with a 7.5 foot pre-lit tree. Designers are encouraged to choose a theme, and get creative. Designer’s Choice and People’s Choice Award winning trees, will be auctioned off along with local art to the highest bidders to benefit CAST, and winning bidders can have a fully-decorated tree delivered to their home or office.
