One Minute on the North Fork: Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve

Tucked away in the headwaters of the Peconic River, the Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve (3675-3815 Lake Avenue, Riverhead) is a hidden gem.

The 165-acre preserve features an easy 1/2 mile walk around Sweezey’s Pond, where you’ll wander through marshes, bogs and wetlands and explore what was, at one time, the largest cranberry farm on Long Island, the Woodhull Bog.

We took advantage of the mild weather earlier this week to admire the fall foliage. Spend a moment with us there:
