Where should you take your North Fork kid this season?

The students of Peconic Community School in Aquebogue shared some tips:

“My favorite place is Rocky Point Beach, it is in East Marion. It has A LOT of rocks, and that’s why it’s beautiful! You can climb any rock, big or small, large or short. Don’t forget the water though! You can take a swim.”

Augie, Grade 2

“I like to go to miniature golf [at Drosso’s in Greenport]. They have a windmill and cool structures to golf around. I’m trying to get a ball in the clown’s mouth to win a free game!”

Benjamin, Grade 2

“In the summer I like to stay home and swim in the pool and eat watermelon. Sometimes I even swim in the pool and eat watermelon at the same time!”

Amylia, Grade 2

“In the summer I like to go to the Causeway Beach on Nassau Point. It has a slide and swings. In the summer it has warm sand and cool water.”

Meridian, Grade 2

“I like to go to the beach and I like to find sea glass.”

Lena, Grade 1

“One of my favorite summer spots is North Fork Doughnut Company, and my favorite donut there is the cookies and cream. And I also love to go to Splish Splash and after going to Splish Splash I go to Snowflake for ice cream every time!”

Aidan, Grade 1

“I love going to the Magic Fountain ice cream shop in Mattituck. I also like to go fishing off the dock next to Breakwater Beach.”

Rocco, Grade 1

“I love going to Young’s Beach in Orient because I love the sea breeze and climbing on the rocks.”

BB, Grade 1

“My favorite place to go on the North Fork is the Long Island Aquarium. My favorite animal there are the jellyfish because they are delicate and fragile. And, in the summer, the aquarium has a sea lion show!”

Saverio, Grade 3

“My favorite place on the North Fork is the beach. I like paddleboarding and kayaking and playing on the beach and swimming!”

Monte, Grade 3

“I love to go to Love Lane in Mattituck. I love the Love Lane Sweet Shoppe, we fill bags with all kinds of candy! Oh, and I can’t forget Love Lane Kitchen, I love it there too! My favorite thing to order is the pancakes.”

Lucie, Grade 3

“I like to go to Bailie Beach because there’s a big sand mountain that I like to climb.”

Adam, Grade 3

“I love going to 1943 Pizza! They have the best pizza in Greenport!”

Andre, Grade 3

“I love going to Greenport because it has so many places to visit. When I’m in Greenport, I love to visit the carousel. I love running around with my brother in the field there, and we like to have picnics there too!”

Ayla, Grade 3

“I like skateboarding in the summer, with the sun hitting my face, going fast so I can feel free and feel like there is not one trouble in the world. Living on the North Fork is great so I can skateboard outside in the street with no worries, or go to the Greenport skate park to learn more tricks and probably fall but then get right back up.”

Nataly, Grade 6

“The North Fork has been my home ever since I was born. I never moved, and I love living here! There are so many activities to do. The weather is often really nice, so you can be outside a lot. It’s a really good place to play Frisbee! If you have a slackline, you should also definitely use it!”

Asen, Grade 6

“I’ve lived on the North Fork my whole life. Ever since I was little, I loved to swim at Southold’s Goose Creek beach on the bay at sunset. It’s rocky but all the rocks are smooth and worn. I like the channel side of Goose Creek because you can swim so deep and let yourself flow out to the bay. You can’t see the sunset so clearly from there, but the light and the illumination of the sun off the clouds looks gorgeous in the rippling water.”

Sophie, Grade 6

“On the North Fork, my favorite place to go in the summer is the Greenport roller rink. At the rink, there are lots of people to talk to and skate with. I enjoy going there because they play good music and when I go there, I am always skating with friends! If it’s your first time skating, people will help you out!”

Kai, Grade 6

“I like going to Splish Splash in the summer to go have fun with friends and family. I like going on all the rides except Cliff Diver (but I don’t think many other people like it either). The wave pools are fun to mess around in and play tag or other games and then the waves are really fun to ride away on.”
