Calling all history buffs – this week’s Dream Home is for you.

Not often do we get to peek inside a historic North Fork home, especially one with landmark status, but today we do, and we are giddy over it.

The 4,000-square-foot colonial home features five bedrooms and four bathrooms and is set upon a three-acre lot in Jamesport on the Main Road.

“The banisters and landing between the first and upper floors are a commanding feature enjoyed by visitors and dwellers alike. And the kitchen, five bedrooms, and four up-to-the-minute full baths do not disturb, but rather complement the home’s historical ambiance,” said listing agent Maureen Sullivan of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.

On the property, you’ll also find 1800’s outbuildings such as a large barn with workshop and second-story hayloft as well as a three-car garage with usable space above. There is a 20 x 50-foot swimming pool with a cedar surround, a large patio, and a covered porch overlooking two flora and fauna ponds that are separated by a small island.

“As you get out of your car you experience a sense of awe and feel as if time is standing still, but when you step inside you realize that you have not stepped into a ‘before’ episode of This Old House but an ‘after,” said Sullivan.

Now, let’s talk history.

“Local historians tell us that the first section of the home’s structure was erected during the Revolutionary War era and represents a third of the house. Pre-Civil War (1841) appears to be when the remaining two-thirds of the home were added, completing the home as it stands today,” adds Sullivan. “Other historical homes on Main Road that followed built their homes in the style of this one, a style unique to the North Fork.”

Most historical properties were built on main roads as means of convenience, and it remains that way with this home situated just steps from a Hampton Jitney stop with service from NYC, and in walking distance to restaurants, a bakery, a flower shop, and more.

This home that contains memories upon memories, is ready to make more.

It is listed at $2,150,000.
