Philip Seas Jr. of Athienou Farms arranges the pumpkins at the Sound Avenue farm stand (credit: Felicia LaLomia).

Each week, we will be spotlighting a different farm stand on the North Fork as more open up. Athienou Farms is open seven days a week — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

Name: Athienou Farms

History: The Seas family, who owns the farm stand, has been farming long before they arrived on the North Fork. Philip Seas Sr. immigrated from Greece to the U.S. in the 1970s and worked in wholesale produce sales, but never the farming side. After about a decade doing that, Seas wanted to get back to his roots, farming, something he did while in Greece. So, he opened Athienou in East Marion, and five years ago moved to the Sound Avenue location where they are now. Currently, the 86 acre farm is run by Philip Seas Sr., his wife Maria and son Philip.

What they are offering: Pumpkins of all sizes, acorn and butternut squash, peppers, leafy greens, gourds, sunflowers, tomatoes, beets and more.
