For the past year, Maroni Southold has been offering their heat at home menu, where customers can call ahead to order the restaurant’s famous pots of meatballs or trays of other Italian options. That menu is still available — but now the restaurant is offering a new type of dining.

After completely renovating the interior of the space — new floors, walls, lighting and kitchen — the dining room looks light, airy and inviting. Perfect for the new private chef’s tasting dinners now offered on Tuesday nights for parties of between 10 and 20 people.

“It’s the same dinners that we offer in Northport,” said Maria Maroni, the owner. For now, the room can only be reserved by one large party for $200 per person. “That is mostly due to COVID,” she said. “For us to start out, we think this is the best way to do it. I feel like it’s a safe place for people to come and have their dinner parties with their group.”

For that price, you get 17 to 20 small plates, wine, beer, coffee, dessert, tax and tip over the course of two and a half hours in the new dining room. Seats are split up between three tables — two wooden, one glass — accented by clean, white dishes and napkins and greenery. In contrast, hints of coziness and edge are brought in by the black chairs and light fixtures.

“We wanted to have some pieces carry over from the Northport store, like the rock ‘n roll,” Maroni said. “We also wanted a cleaner, North Fork palette here.”

In addition to the heat at home menu, Maroni Southold will also have sushi available for takeout every Tuesday. The store is open Thursday and Friday 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call ahead to order.
