If you didn’t know where it was, you might pass right by Sidor Farms sunflower maze in Mattituck. The magnetic draw of its pure beauty, however, has made it a popular spot in recent summers.
Right off County Route 48 in Mattituck the maze is now open for its third year. Driving through the parking lot, complete with a big white tent for admission sales and about a dozen porta potties, you wonder where exactly are all the sunflowers. But once you follow the dirt path that leads you to the top of the hill, you see the five acres of blooming sunflowers all following the rays of sun. You quickly understand why this has been so popular with locals and visitors alike.
The Sidor Farms sunflower maze opened its field at the end of July, and it’s not the only place to see the bright yellow petals on the North Fork. Here’s a list of some of our favorite places for a sunflower fix.
