Not every event is canceled this summer.

Paddle Battle Long Island will take place on Saturday, July 25 on the Peconic Riverfront.

The kayak and paddle board racing event to save the sea turtles is a fundraiser for the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research, which is housed in the Long Island Aquarium on East Main Street. It will run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The race features two courses, a five-mile competitive loop and a 2.5 mile recreational path. Sea kayaks are permitted in the competitive race. Recreational kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are allowed in either race.

Both courses feature loops around Colonels Island.

The Peconic River event was started in 2013 and features dozens of participants of all ages and skill levels.

Registration is $65 or $130 for two-person canoes. Click here to sign up.
