Each week, we will be spotlighting a different farm stand on the North Fork as more open up. Zilnicki Farms’ open air market welcomes shoppers 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, weather permitting. Their CSA is still available for delivery or pick-ups, prorated for the weeks that have already passed. Check out their website for the details.

Name: Zilnicki Farms

History: Zilnicki Farms was founded in the early 1980s by John and Helen Zilnicki as a predominantly potato and cabbage farm. In the 1990s, as the next generation took over, greenhouses were added with cut flowers and vegetables as the market for potatoes shifted away from Long Island. In 2019, the CSA had its first year and in this pandemic year, the number of participants has tripled.

What they are offering: annuals, perennials, cut flowers, eggs, Long Island red and yellow potatoes, lettuce, cut herbs, swiss chard, kale, collard greens, potted plants, sweet corn, tomatoes, cherries.

What they will be offering: green and red cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, squash and more.
