Each week, we’ll be spotlighting a different North Fork winery, showcasing their history and how you can support them at this time.
Jamesport Vineyards is currently open on the weekends for pickup.
Name: Jamesport Vineyards
Year founded: 1986
Acres: 45
Varieties: sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, albariño, riesling, merlot, cabernet franc, lagrein, teroldego, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot
History: In 1981, Ron Goerler Sr. planted the vines and soon after, bought the 165-year-old barn where the Jamesport Vineyards tasting room is now located. By 1986, they were making wine. The vineyard pushes out between 3,000 and 5,000 cases a year, has a kitchen for NoFo Pizza and is experimenting with Italian varieties.
How you can support them: You can get wine from Jamesport Vineyards by ordering and picking up on the weekends when they are open, shopping directly from their site and having it delivered to your home or buying through local liquor shops.
“I’ve always firmly believed that giving people a good experience makes that connection in the wine world,” said winery president Ron Goerler Jr. “Wine is a living beverage. We need people to make it happen.”
