Andrews Family Farm in Calverton officially opens for business today, April 24, with lots of fresh produce and plant available.

Name: Andrews Family Farm

Year founded: 1986

History: Marie and Robert Andrews Sr. moved their farm from Melville to Wading River in 1983 and opened up the farm stand three years later. Now, with 25 greenhouses and 70 acres of crop production, the farm is being run by their children and grandchildren, who are fifth and sixth generation farmers.

What they are offering: In the greenhouses are annual flowers and vegetable plants, while their farm stand has spinach, cilantro, tomatoes, eggs and other local items. More vegetables will continue to become available as the season gets warmer.

What they will offer: Lettuce, arugula, beets, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, celery, corn, peppers as well as a wide variety of herbs, strawberries, rhubarb, asparagus, arugula, lettuce. In the summer, they will have every vegetable and a variety of seasonal fruit.
