The North Fork offers a wide range of options for engaged couples to consider as a wedding venue. They can choose a vineyard, mansion, renovated landmark, waterfront space, rustic barn, flower farm, restaurant or even a full-service catering hall. Some venues have their own in-house chefs and operational facilities, while others expect you to bring in everything from décor to dance floor to dessert. Couples can find everything from rustic to glam, with everything in between, and that North Fork magic is ever present.

To help you figure out your wedding location, we grouped some favorite venues by theme. Keep in mind that many venues checked numerous boxes, so use this merely as a starting point. See our full listing of wedding venues for additional options.

VINEYARD WEDDING

Bedell Cellars

The 75-acre Bedell Cellars is one of the most critically acclaimed wineries on the North Fork. Tucked away in the picturesque hamlet of Cutchogue, Bedell offers a beautiful setting for a celebration that will reflect your personality and leave the best impression of your special day. Framed by a backdrop of gently rolling vineyards, the venue has an open layout, providing a welcoming canvas to create your own unique event.

Guests can expect an intimate outdoor ceremony under the tall 100-year-old oak tree in the historic apple orchard, sipping cocktails among the vines. Afterward, they’ll head up to Bedell’s covered deck for dinner and dancing while enjoying panoramic vineyard views. It all flows seamlessly from one element into the next.

Of course, a day this magical wouldn’t be complete without an epic wine country sunset and stargazing on the dance floor. Bedell recently started producing mini bottles of rosé that are great items for gift bags, welcome bags or wedding favors.

BARN WEDDING

Hallockville Museum Farm

Warm and rustic, Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead is a one-of-a-kind North Fork wedding venue. With its historic and agricultural backdrop, the museum farm is unlike any traditional catering hall. The grounds feature 19 beautifully maintained historic buildings, some dating back more than 250 years. The Naugles Barn on the west side of the property serves as the reception area. Built in 1937, the 1,400-square-foot structure is a veritable blank slate for your wedding.

Hallockville is a historic homestead that represents and celebrates Long Island’s agricultural heritage, with beautiful gardens and modern-day farming (animal residents include cows, chickens and sheep).

“It’s very much a ‘do it yourself’ venue,” said Herb Strobel, Hallockville’s executive director. “You can make it what you want and really personalize your event.”

The Naugles Barn is ideal for an indoor or outdoor wedding, and ceremonies can be held on site at no additional cost. Its 15-foot-tall barn doors open out to more than 500 acres of preserved farmland, providing a peaceful and authentic rural setting. With the addition of an outdoor tent, Hallockville can accommodate around 150 guests. The museum grounds are also a popular choice for the couple seeking a country setting to capture their wedding day on camera.

Guests are free to explore the property, including all the museum buildings and animal stalls. As an added bonus, all payments to the nonprofit museum farm are used to maintain the historic property.

FARM WEDDING

Salt Air Farm

Want to get married on a working flower farm? Salt Air Farm in Cutchogue is a charming outdoor venue versatile enough to host events as small as a garden party or as big as a 300-guest affair.

The farm, which stretches between two salt marsh inlets along Peconic Bay, is owned and operated by Prudence and Dan Heston, who keep bees on the property to make honey and tend to a beautiful selection of wedding florals — over 50 varieties, to be exact. Brides can work with the farm’s florists to create personalized bouquets and decorations, knowing they’re getting the freshest, most beautiful blooms available. Plus, the flowers in the field provide quite the photo backdrop. “Brides who marry here get design and arranging services for free as part of the experience of having a garden party-type of wedding on the farm,” notes Prudence Heston. “Brides getting married at other venues come in for a consultation and quote.”

After the ceremony, guests can play croquet on the Olympic-size lawn court or pick fruit from the farm’s peach and nectarine trees. If you prefer, the Hestons’ 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, will take a basket and pluck the fruit for you.

Looking for a unique wedding favor for friends and family? Hands-on couples are invited to join the Hestons for a series of beekeeping classes, where they’ll learn all the particulars of the craft and get to bottle their own honey as gifts.

LANDMARK WEDDING

Brecknock Hall

A gorgeous estate, Brecknock Hall has been home to many dream weddings in recent years. (Credit: Haley Howard)

Brecknock Hall is a painstakingly restored 19th-century manor home, resplendent with refined elegance. Infused with warmth and detail, Brecknock Hall is a distinctive setting for weddings, community events and other special occasions. The building is one of Long Island’s most magnificent examples of 19th-century Italianate stone architecture, and was once the home of David Gelston Floyd, whose grandfather, William Floyd, signed the Declaration of Independence.

Brecknock Hall’s lower level features four charming parlor rooms with a grand center hallway, sprawling lawns and a patio for tented celebrations. The second-floor provides a private bridal suite, lounge area and groomsmen’s quarters as well as guest restrooms. There is convenient access for caterers, ample parking and access to Long Island Sound for photographs. Brecknock Hall hosts only one wedding per weekend so couples have prior day access to drop off personal items and décor and can choose the date that’s perfect for them.

As part of the community’s annual Veterans Day Wedding Giveback, Brecknock helps provide one military couple with the wedding of their dreams for free, including an estimated $60,000 worth of services and donations. A panel of Peconic Landing members with military ties selects the lucky couple based on their love story and military history.

WATERFRONT WEDDING

Peconic Bay Yacht Club

Despite its name, Peconic Bay Yacht Club is neither private nor a boating club, but this upscale maritime venue feels a bit like both. Opened in 2016 in Southold (at the former Mill Creek Inn location), the elegantly renovated 10,000-square-foot facility overlooks Peconic Bay and is the only fully catered waterfront event space on the North Fork.

For weddings, the elegant property offers a waterfront lawn, marina, exquisite indoor ballroom, stately lounge, private tasting room and panoramic views from the terrace. There’s also a dedicated Bridal Suite and Groom’s Room where the wedding party can get ready in style. A lawn reception can accommodate 300 people, while the ballroom can hold 180 for a traditional seated dinner and 220 for a European-style reception over the various rooms.

“You don’t have to be a boater, or have a slip with us, to have a wedding here, although the majority of our clients love the water,” says John Ovanessian, general manager of Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs, who notes that couples sometimes arrive by boat for a dramatic entrance.

Robbins Wolfe of the CulinArt Group is the property’s exclusive on-site caterer, focusing on fine dining and the freshest local food (the impeccable Southold Fish Market just happens to be across the street).
