10 a.m.: Start Your Morning at Chakra Cafe
Start your day at Chakra Cafe on Queens Blvd. The cozy Turkish coffee shop dishes out treats like chocolate baklava alongside specialty coffee drinks. After ordering, settle into one of the tables with your maple coffee and bagel sandwich. You’ll want to hang out here for a while.
11 a.m.: Surround Yourself in Tranquility (and Spy on the Dogs)
Explore Sunnyside’s famous residential streets (and work off your breakfast) by walking around the neighborhood’s northern edge. History surrounds you in this historic district; you’ll find gorgeous old row homes, a members-only garden you can peak at and lots of dogs on their morning walk. Meander around and picture yourself living here.
12 p.m. Shop to Your Heart’s Content
While Sunnyside has nowhere near as many stores as, say, SoHo, it’s a vintage lover’s dream. Pop into Bliss Vintage for clothing, Stray Vintage for jewelry and Sunnyside Thrift Shop for books.
2 p.m.: Travel to Paraguay by Way of Greenpoint Ave
By now, the sun is high and you’re starving. Head to Paraguay … ahh Greenpoint Avenue, where Nancy Ojeda of I Love Paraguay has a table for you. Everything is delicious but the Vori Vori Chicken Soup with Corn Balls is one of the restaurant’s specialties. And you can never go wrong with empanadas. Whatever you order, remember to save room for dessert. You’ll want to try the Alfajores cookies.
5 p.m.: Take in the Sunset Views
Check out the setting sun aboard the 7 train heading toward Manhattan. The elevated train offers stunning views.
7 p.m.: Indulge in Modern Italian
After whiling away the afternoon head to Senso Unico, where Chef and Owner Vicnezo Garofalo dishes out traditional dishes like Fettuccine al Pesto di Noci with a modern twist, replacing traditional basil and pine nuts. Pair it with the Negroni Rosé.
