We asked nine local realtors to share with us their favorite sale of 2019. Here’s what they had to say:

“It’s always special to be able to assist former clients with the sale of their home. We had sold this beautiful Nantucket-style waterfront home in Southold to a lovely family in 2008, before the real estate market crashed. Ten years later, the owners asked us to list their home because they were retiring to Florida. We were delighted to assist them and, despite the market crisis that lasted for several years after they purchased the home, we were able to sell it for a healthy increase in value.”

Marie Beninati, Beninati Associates

“When the sellers contacted me to list this Southold property, I was honored. I have loved this property for years. It’s such a fantastic location with immense potential. The buyers are the perfect fit for it! Look for new and exciting things happening there!”

Sheri Winter Parker, The Corcoran Group

“My favorite sale, a listing of mine, was definitely … in Laurel. It was just a fantastic property, kind of the quintessential North Fork beach cottage that had been renovated, brought up to date with some modern amenities, but that still had a lot of the charm of the bygone era.”

Thomas McCloskey, Douglas Elliman Real Estate

“Being responsible for the introduction of a new farmer to the North Fork brings great pleasure! I have always been committed to preserving our history, farms and open space. It’s wonderful to see the enthusiasm and excitement that such a sale brings. The new owner of this Cutchogue home and his family look forward to being members of the Long Island Wine Council and breathing new life to this long shuttered, but popular winery! I am proud to be part of the success of this transaction in many ways.”

Nick Planamento, Town and Country

“A favorite sale of 2019. A beautifully manicured waterfront compound marketed and sold by Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International put into contract in 20 days, split between two lucky buyers. Twice as nice!”

Mariah Mills and Donielle Cardinale, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty

“The sale of this property located … in Cutchogue was my favorite for 2019 for many reasons. The house was located on a private flag lot overlooking farmland and was very private. The home was on point and on trend with its open layout, spacious rooms and was newly renovated and in impeccable condition. The kitchen and baths were extremely well done and the home was tastefully appointed. Both the buyers and sellers were a pleasure to work with!”

Tom McCarthy, Thomas J. McCarthy Real Estate Inc.

“The Laurel property was bayfront. The original owners — they were from Garden City and used it as a summer home and it turned out that the buyers are also from Garden City and we believe the buyer’s wife actually babysat for the owner when he was young. It was really just kind of like a small-world story and they were such the perfect buyers for this particular home. They really appreciated the garden that mom had planted and just loved everything about the house.”

Denice Lara, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty

“What a fabulous exclusive listing this open Flanders bayfront home was, with endless bay views from every room! Boasting an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings, electronic skylights, gas fireplace and a master suite with private bayfront balcony, this home was loaded with amenities. The new homeowner benefits from an association beach and floating dock, and the ultimate privacy. A true waterfront paradise, bordered by protected wetlands — we were actually sad to see this one go.”

Deirdre Fedun, Fedun Real Estate Inc.

“This Baiting Hollow House offered an open floor plan that is cozy and inviting, surrounded by a spacious yard with soft, wafting smells of lavender from the fields close by, along with great location close to all shopping, farms and wineries.”

Amanda Capobianco, Richmond Realty Inc.
