Have you been looking for a great place to eat on the North Fork that both you and your kids can love?
Who better to ask for a review about family-friendly restaurants than kids themselves?
There are many great restaurants to eat at on the North Fork, but students at Peconic Community School in Aquebogue rounded up four favorites that are hits with both grownups and kids.
Here’s what they had to say, in their own words.
Lucharitos
Lucharitos serves authentic Mexican cuisine that you can find right in the heart of Greenport. Lucharitos is in a big, bright space with lots of seating for kids and families and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The menu features tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and more, with lots of great choices for kids.
Our favorite dishes are the chip dip trio and the quesadillas. The chip dish has three different sauces, melted cheese, salsa and guacamole to dip your chips in. It is so good! The quesadillas are huge, you could definitely split them with a friend or sibling, and we like to get the chicken and cheese quesadilla with guacamole.
Lucharitos is a good place to go when you have time to have a full meal and savor their handmade dishes. If you’re planning a trip to the North Fork, Lucharitos is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner! Lucharitos is on Main Street in Greenport Village.

Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. in Peconic
Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. is more than just a brewery, it’s a great place for families to gather for food and fun!
Located on the Main Road in Peconic, it has a small selection of food, but don’t let that fool ya. They have delicious salads, burgers and sandwiches, perfect for all ages. The food at the brewery is the best of the best, especially the burgers. They have the perfect amount of juiciness and they taste like heaven. Seriously, it’s just pure freshness.
I have to say, I think this is the best burger on the North Fork, and I’ve tried them all, let me tell you.
The Greenport Brewery is also in a really cool space that makes it fun for kids to be there. It used to be a car dealership! There’s a fireplace and lots of room to move around. It’s also a perfect place for a summertime stop. They have lots of property for kids to enjoy themselves with a game of wiffle ball, a nice simple game of catch or other summertime fun while their parents sit back and enjoy a large selection of drinks.
The brewery is a must stop on your visit! The atmosphere really brings together the local magic of the North Fork.

Main Road Biscuit Co.
I went to Main Road Biscuit Co. with my mom and brother for breakfast. It is located on the Main Road in Jamesport, right across from the Jamesport Meeting House. As soon as you walk in you notice the rustic style and how bright and clean it is. The service was quick and our server, Christian, brought us coffee (it’s Fair Trade), milk and water right away with the menus.
The menu is big with a mix of light options, comfort food, vegetarian options, and lots of different drinks. My favorite was the biscuits with gravy. The biscuits had a crunchy outside and warm soft inside, and the gravy was perfect: rich, thick and filling with just enough sausage. The presentation is great too and looked kind of fancy with a plate full of gravy and specks of spicy pepper. Biscuits are my favorite breakfast food, and these biscuits were probably the best I’ve had!
The pancakes were notable too. They were incredibly delicious. The grandma pancakes were thin with crunchy edges and a soft center, like crepes, and the oat pancakes were the opposite: big, fluffy and soft.
If you go there for lunch try the BLTA or the fried chicken.
I recommend Main Road Biscuit Co. to adults and kids who like comfort food. I definitely think people visiting the North Fork should go to Main Road Biscuit Co. and support this nice family and enjoy their very delicious foods.

Hampton Coffee Company
Hampton Coffee Company is located on Main Road in Aquebogue, right across the street from our school. It is a lovely, local place to stop and grab a bite to eat. Hampton Coffee serves mostly breakfast and brunch choices, like pastries and baked goods. But if you want something more substantial or to stop in for lunch, they also offer sandwiches, salads and soups.
As stated in their name, they serve coffee for the grownups in your life.
My favorite item personally is the “Double Chocolate Brownie.” It is truly delicious! One of the best things about it is that it has so much chocolate in it, which makes it SO delicious if you’re a chocolate lover, like me.
If you’re not a super, full-blown chocolate lover, you could try the chocolate chip cookie, which is my brother’s favorite. It’s soft, creamy and sweet, but is not overpowered by the chocolate in it.
Along with its other features, Hampton Coffee Company is very kid-friendly. The people who work there treat every child that walks in like a prince or princess. This is a great place to stop in for a quick breakfast treat before school or for an afternoon snack after school. I hope you take me up on this amazing place and visit! Enjoy!
