It’s almost time to shellabrate!

Shellabration, the popular celebration of shellfish held for one weekend every December in Greenport, is set for Dec. 7-8. Wristbands ($20-$30) are already being sold and advanced purchases are recommended since the annual event does sell out.

During the event, which benefits Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Back to the bays Initiative and the SPAT program, several of Greenport’s restaurants will be serving up discounted oyster, clam and scallop dishes along with drink specials. The bites are $5 with drinks priced at just $3.

While participating vendors are still being lined up, some local restaurants have already announced what they’ll be serving. Little Creek Oysters, for example, will be serving oysters on the half shell paired with Hidden Pearl Stout, a collaboration between the restaurant and its neighbors at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. Claudio’s will have Peconic Bay scallop ceviche with Bedell Cellars Viognier.

The event, now in its eighth year, runs from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
