There is a rumor that the North Fork slows to a crawl when the cooler weather returns. And while the beaches may be empty and the sidewalks less traveled, there are still plenty of ways to experience the region in the so-called offseason.

Beer and Halloween Candy Pairing at Moustache Brewing Co. 

Halloween may have passed, but the folks at Moustache Brewing Co. have something sweet planned for the weekend. Starting Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3, enjoy a special Halloween flight featuring four beers paired with candy. Fingers crossed that the PSL (Pumpkin Spice Lager) is in the flight lineup.

“Sundays with Grandma” at Diliberto Winery

For those of you who miss your Italian nonna’s cooking, Diliberto Winery can help you recreate the feeling of a full belly of your grandma’s macaroni and sauce. Fish & Sips at the Long Island Aquarium 

Visit the Long Island Aquarium in downtown Riverhead for a special after-hours food and wine pairing. The annual Fish & Sips event returns Friday, Nov. 15 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy tastings from more than 20 local vineyards and breweries as well as hors d’oeuvres. Boards & Wine at The Menhaden Hotel

Have you ever wanted to style a charcuterie board like a pro? Here’s your chance.  Join Lauren Lombardi, owner of Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, and learn how to create one of her Instagram-worthy charcuterie and crudité boards. Hosted by and held at The Menhaden Hotel in Greenport, guests will learn how to create their own boards using crudités, local cheeses, Italian cured meats, edible garnishes, Marcona almonds and fruit chutneys. 7th Annual Family Nature Scavenger Hunt at Downs Farm Preserve

Group for the East End will hold its annual scavenger hunt on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Downs Farm Preserve in Cutchogue. At this family-friendly event, explore the trails of Downs Farm Preserve and keep your eye out for hidden prizes along the way. Registration is strongly encouraged. Peconic Bay Scallop Dinner by Southold Rotary at Touch of Venice

Nov. 4 marks the official start of the Peconic Bay scallop season and you can celebrate with a scallop dinner at Touch of Venice. This fundraiser, held on Monday, Nov. 11, from noon to 8 p.m., is organized by the Rotary Club of Southold and benefits the club’s charitable activities throughout the year. Reptile Presentation at Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island

Walk off your Thanksgiving feast with a trip to Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island Friday, Nov. 29, from 1 to 2 p.m. The Nature Conservancy is hosting a Quogue Wildlife Refuge naturalist who will share facts about the adaptations reptiles must take to survive. Want to make a bottle of wine even better? This class will give that housewarming gift or home display extra bragging rights. TouchGOODS in Southold is hosting Rosé & Macramé classes. Attendees will enjoy light bites and refreshing rosé while shop owner Norine Pennacchia guides them through making their very own boho-style wall hanging. Add-ons like beads and feathers will also be available to help you further personalize your creation. The Zodiac Party at Treiber Farms

On Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6 p.m. to midnight, join Treiber Farms and friends for a night of reiki sessions, birth chart readings, light installations, DJ sets and more. In the Spirit of Christmas at Spirit’s Promise Equine Rescue

Let’s face it, Christmas is right around the corner and you can get into the holiday spirit at Spirit’s Promise’s annual holiday equine and farm experience: In the Spirit of Christmas. Starting on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. you and your family can visit the farm and enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus, a visit with Santa and his “equine” reindeer, caroling, vendors to shop and more.
