Get a behind the scenes peak inside local farms and other artisanal food and drink purveyors during the 13th annual North Fork Foodie Tour, set for Sunday, Sept. 8. The self-guided event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with exclusive tours, demonstrations, talks and family activities that allow participants to hear, touch, feel and taste what makes the products so special.

The venues include 8 Hands Farm, Browder’s Birds, Charnews Farm, Catapano Dairy Farm, RGNY, Goodale Farms, Greenport Harbor Brewery, Krupski Farms, Lavender by the Bay, North Fork Egg Farm, Shared Table Farmhouse, North Fork Roasting Co., Castello di Borghese Vineyard, Lee Farms, Satur Farms, KK’s The Farm and North Fork Flower Farm.

New this year at Peconic Land Trust’s Charnews Farm in Southold, chef Stephan Bogardus of The Halyard in Greenport will demonstrate a seasonal dish made with local ingredients. Farmer Abra Morawiec of Feisty Acres Farm in Southold will speak about the rewards and challenges of raising game birds and specialty poultry. Monica Ray, a botanical artist, will speak about the centuries-old tradition of Botanical Illustration and the art found on seed-packages and seed-catalogs.

Other speakers include chef Taylor Knapp, of Peconic Escargot, and Dan Heston of Peconic Land Trust who will talk about nurturing new farms.

Admission is $25 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
