The house-made “aMano” cannoli is a must-try. (Photo credit: David Benthal)

There tend to be two camps when it comes to dessert. Some people see dessert as a once-in-a-while luxury and swear to have only a “bite.” On the other end of the spectrum are those who choose which dessert they’ll have before they even decide on a main course.

No matter which camp you’re in, consider these five northforker summer dessert picks. Our advice: Don’t get up from the table without trying them — even if it’s just that “bite.”

House-made “aMano” Cannoli

aMano

13550 Main Road, Mattituck

This dessert checks all the right boxes. The cannoli shell is airy and crispy and the pistachio cream filling is sweet yet subtle. Although these come two to an order, you won’t want to share.

Lemon Blueberry Cake

Farm Country Kitchen

513 West Main St., Riverhead

Not much else says summer like the combination of lemon and blueberry, but it’s this cake’s mascarpone filling and Limoncello  drizzle that lands it on our dessert picks list.

Carrot Cake

Grana

1556 Main Road, Jamesport

No matter how full you are from dinner at Grana, this dessert is a must. People travel from near and far to  savor this carrot cake — and there is a reason for that.

Cinnamon Sugar Beignets

Noah’s

136 Front St., Greenport

Served with a warm orange bourbon caramel sauce, these beignets are so delicious you won’t mind wearing a powdered sugar mustache while eating them.

Cheesecake

Love Lane Kitchen

240 Love Lane, Mattituck

Homemade by owner Carolyn Iannone’s mother from a family recipe, this cheesecake could easily be the best you’ve ever tasted.
