Hundreds of people gathered at the Oysterponds Historical Society grounds in Orient Saturday for the annual North Fork Fresh to sample delicious food from local restaurants, farmers and chefs along with wines, beer and special desserts.

The event, which featured more than 25 vendors, is a celebration of North Fork bounty, benefiting the historical society.

“It’s wonderful for Oysterponds Historical Society to have such a large community event at the start of every season, with the support of over 300 attendees this year,” said Marianne Howard, executive director of the Oysterponds Historical Society.

A pie baking contest was among the activities. Elanna Lazar won first place overall for her peach thyme pie, Ellen Zimmerman from East Marion took second with her rhubarb black cherry pie and Ivanna Zivkovic earned the third spot with her strawberry rhubarb pie.
