New Suffolk Waterfront Fund hosted its 11th annual Chowderfest fundraiser Saturday. The family-friendly event drew hundreds for an afternoon of live music, barbecue, kids games, and, of course, chowder sampling.
The five varieties, made by Southold catering company Grace & Grit, included traditional New England style, Long Island clam chowder with a creamy tomato base, bacon corn chowder and vegetarian chowder and a soy milk-based vegan chowder.
New Suffolk Waterfront Fund volunteers were also busy, grilling up burgers, sausages and hot dogs served with an assortment of sides for guests to savor while overlooking the water on a beautiful 70-degree day.
“Word has seemed to have gotten out,” said New Suffolk Waterfront co-chair Pat McIntyre. “It’s more popular than ever.”
All proceeds support the continuing revitalization of the historic New Suffolk Waterfront property, which is owned and maintained by the non-profit New Suffolk Waterfront Fund.
