Buzzed-about CBD oil has arrived on the North Fork.
Cannabidiol oil — commonly called CBD— is a non-psychoactive marijuana extract that is credited with helping everything from stress management and anxiety, to inflammation and better sleep. The oil can be taken on its own, but is becoming an increasingly popular additive.
Curious to try it out for yourself? A health food café in Cutchogue, an all-American gastropub in Greenport and a yoga studio in Mattituck are all offering new ways to test out CBD on the North Fork.
CBD sparkling water at Simply Sublime
Simply Sublime, an organic market and café with locations in Cutchogue and East Hampton, has added a national brand of CBD infused sparkling water to its offerings, which include housemade, organic fresh-pressed juices and smoothies. The Recess line of low sugar, low calorie seltzers contain 10 milligrams of full spectrum hemp oil. It’s sold in brightly colored cans for three flavors: pom hibiscus, blackberry chai and peach ginger. In addition to the CBD, the drinks are comprised of herbs, such as L-theanine, which is also found in black tea.
“It is a very calming and refreshing drink,” said Simply Sublime’s Kristy Gilmore, who personally uses CBD oil and touts its benefits. “You don’t taste the CBD oil. It is light and fruity, and has good-for-you stuff.”

CBD soda at Front Street Station
This Greenport gastropub is best known for its takes on all-American eats, such as its savory cheddar bacon burgers and fried flounder sandwich. In additional to its regular lineup of sodas and cocktails, Front Street Station is now offering the CBD-infused soda, Sprig. The canned sodas contain 20 milligrams of CBD derived from agricultural hemp. Sprig comes in three zero-sugar flavors: citrus, melon and sparkling lemon tea.
Though owner Sharon Sailor isn’t selling the soda as a medicinal product, she said her health conscious customers enjoy sipping on it. “They like that it is sugar free,” she said. “People have asked to take cans home. It is a new and upcoming thing in the food industry and we wanted to share that with our customers.”
The Greenport restaurant is looking to add CBD-infused tea and coffee in the coming weeks, and plans to use the CBD-soda as a cocktail mixer in the summer months.

CBD Warm Gentle Yoga at Aura Yoga
Aura Yoga offers a plethora of traditional classes, but its CBD Warm Gentle Yoga has become increasingly popular since it was introduced last month. In the class, practitioners are given the option to take a small dose of hemp derived CBD prior to an hour-long meditation and a gentle vinyasa sequence. Aura offers CBD topical creams and drops, as well as no-trace THC gummies to class goers (the products are also sold separately at the front desk.)
Owner and instructor Colleen McCaffery said CBD produces a calming effect that can help deepen the mind-body-spirit connection during a class.
“My body responded so well to CBD that I wanted to include it in a yoga class,” said McCaffery, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and uses CBD for its medicinal benefits. “It allows people who want to use CBD to try it in a comfortable environment. We come to yoga to relax and CBD helps physically, emotionally and mentally.”
