Chances are a lot has changed since your last visit to Patchogue.

The South Shore village has been witnessing a resurgence in recent years, leading more and more new businesses to open seemingly every month.

This is certainly true of its increasingly diverse culinary scene. If you haven’t been to Patchogue in the last six months, here are five new restaurants that give reason to return.

The Blue Goose on Main Street opened in September with a from-scratch menu featuring everything from deviled duck eggs to wild mushroom gnocchi to signature burgers. There is a little something for everyone on the menu that is chock full of elevated American fare. The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and serves brunch on Sundays.

Pancakes, French toast and farm fresh eggs are just a few of the menu items that have made Buttermilk’s Kitchen a hot spot for breakfast since opening in late August. The “glam” meets “farmhouse” style dining room also serves up lunch items such as AruGOUDA grilled cheese with Gouda, cheddar, bacon and onion jam. There are also lighter dishes like salads, wraps and soups, in addition to seasonal specials.

PeraBell Food Bar co-owner John Peragine opened Donatina Neapolitan Pizza Café on West Avenue in October. The focus is on pizza — and other Italian fare — made the traditional way. The Neapolitan pizzas are made in a wood-burning oven and toppings include meatball and ricotta, mashed potato and bacon, and more. The full menu will also have pasta dishes and rotating specials in the near future.
