Foodies couldn’t get enough of North Fork Doughnut Co. in 2018.
Owners Jimmy Lyons and Kelly Briguccia opened the Main Road shop in May and it has quickly become a must-stop in Mattituck for its tasty offerings such as traditional, handmade glazed and loaded apple cider doughnuts.
Briguccia is a lifelong baker who has been making doughnuts for a decade, using family recipes. The Long Island natives said they fell in love with doughnut shops in the past decade while living in Brooklyn. When it came time to find a brick-and-mortar storefront for their first commercial enterprise, the couple clearly envisioned a “homey” North Fork location.
“I have been coming out to Southold and the North Fork for a long time,” Lyons said. “My family has had a house [in Southold] for a while and we just have fallen in love with the neighborhood. We want to grow it into a family business.”
The couple renovated the former frozen yogurt joint into a family-friendly café with a rustic American vibe. They’ve teamed up with In the Attic Too of Laurel and Jamesport to build a bartop from reclaimed barn wood, and added a cozy seating area for guests to relax.
