The Main Road in Mattituck gained two new dining options this year — and not too far away from each other either.

MattiTaco — a brick-and-mortar offshoot of Noah’s on the Road food truck operated by Justin Schwartz — took over the former Crazy Fork in February and spent months rehabbing the space in time for its summer opening. The clam shack-style “grab and go” menu features farm-fresh items like butternut squash and roasted kale tacos and barbacoa and plantain burritos with spicy braised brisket. There is also a cheeseburger taco.

“A lot of people are willing to try different tacos other than ground beef or chicken,” said cook Austin Douglas of Aquebogue. “We’re able to put items like a cheeseburger taco on the menu.”

EAsT on Main took over the western side of the two-storefront building — the former Four Doors Down — in May. Owners Antonio and Stephanie Piraino also spent months refreshing the interior and exterior of the building to fit its farm-country menu and a maritime-inspired cocktail list.

The family-friendly menu features everything from breakfast sandwiches to pulled pork sliders to fried Oreos. Some highlights include the build-your-own burger menu that offers seemingly endless combinations — veggie options included. “We’re excited to welcome the neighborhood,” Stephanie said just prior to the grand opening in September.
