This weekend we tagged along on the Oysterponds Historical Society’s Holiday House tour to check out two historic places in Orient. 

The first historic building on our tour is the Orient Congregational Church. Built in 1842 and then renovated decades later, the church is still a staple in the community. Stained glass windows from the early 1900s remain.

The second spot on our tour is the Village House. Parts of the house date back to 1798. At the time, it was purchased by Augustus Griffin for $50. The house has gone through many renovations since then and is modeled to look as it did in the late 1800s.
