The New Suffolk Waterfront Fund is bringing back its biggest fundraiser of the year after a one-year hiatus.

Moonlight and Country returns to the New Suffolk waterfront on Saturday, July 28. The evening features music, a special live auction and a country-themed dinner prepared by Southold catering company Grace & Grit. Expect a comfort food menu of Southern barbecue, corn bread, slaw and pie.

“It always ends up being a very homey type of event,” said NSWF board member Linda Auriemma. “It is a lot of friends from New Suffolk, and of course new people, which we’re always happy to have.”

This year’s fundraiser will have an auction with “adventure” items for the first time. The prizes include two orchestra seat tickets to Hamilton plus a backstage cast member meet and greet after the show.

“We’ve introduced a lot more auction items,” board member Barbara Schnitzlersaid. “We try to make them activities so they’re fun things to do.”

Other auction items include an evening cocktail party for 12 on the lawn of a private New Suffolk home overlooking Peconic Bay with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Jennie’s at Drossos and a boat slip at the New Suffolk Waterfront Marina for the 2019 season.

Proceeds from the event go toward the continuing revitalization and maintenance of the waterfront property, which is open to the public.

“The great thing is that anyone is welcome to use that property to have a picnic or to sit and look at the water,” Schnitzler said. “It’s a unique thing to have this waterfront property open to public 365 days a year. That’s why we have these fundraisers.”

Moonlight and Country will take place Saturday, July 28, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
