Relaxed luxury

A hot water pipe bursting inside this Shelter Island estate was motivation enough for the homeowners to redesign the entire home from top to bottom. Hamptons-based interior designer Elizabeth Dow was brought on to transform the damaged home into a customized retreat.

Her design revolved around the sweeping views found at the waterfront home. A light, simple and coastal atheistic was the guide. The kitchen, guest bedroom and even the first floor staircase was shifted to maximize the space and illuminate the scenery.

Dow’s vision also called for overhauling the master bath positioned on the second floor facing the water. Dow decisively used a combination of natural and modern materials to create the airy seaside feel with an upscale tenor. She installed Carrara marble countertops, bright white subway tiles and a cedar wood ceiling, bestowing a relaxed-luxury vibe befitting of an island oasis.

Best for guests

It’s good to be a guest of this Orient estate. The ground-floor suite was designed to accommodate visitors in high style with functionality to boot. It helps that homeowner Roric Tobin is also an interior designer with foresight.

This bathroom was crafted with Roric and husband Justin Concannon’s parents in mind right down to the comfort of bench seating in the large modern shower.

Also, knowing that guests never unpack their toiletries into a medicine cabinet, generous countertops were incorporated into the design. The drawers even include a hair dryer and first aid kit.

The modern farmhouse meets beach design was brought to life with Porcelanosa shower wall tiles and faux wood planks imported from Spain. The artistic marble shower floor mosaic — from Tile by Design in Cutchogue — was also added to rev up the wow factor.

This home is hitting the market later this spring with Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty’s Bridget Elkin as the listing agent.

Classic elegance

Timeless design is rooted in a neutral color palette. White and gray is a classic scheme that walks the line between traditional and modern. This Southold master bathroom embodies both adjectives.

Ron Morizzo Kitchens & Bath Inc. was tasked with overhauling this once ’70s-style bathroom into the luxury space it is today. A step-up platform with a sunken tub was ripped out and replaced with a freestanding farmhouse-chic soaking tub.

The white porcelain tile floor was carried through to the standing shower walls and a two-inch hex Carrara marble was installed on the shower floor to add depth and texture. A rainfall showerhead was also added to tick up the luxe factor.

Additionally, the redesign included a new toilet closet that keeps the toilet separate from the rest of the bathroom.
