Whether you’re rooting for the New England Patriots or the Philadelphia Eagles — or you’re just in it for the commercials — Super Bowl is an excellent excuse to indulge in beer and comfort food with friends.

Some hit the bars for game day specials. For others, there’s no place like home with friends for the Super Bowl. The beers are cold, the seating is prime and everybody knows your name.

With that in mind, we’ve expanded our annual roundup of the best places to watch the big game to include your house.

This year’s ultimate North Fork Super Bowl guide suggests take-out options for those hosting the party in addition to the best restaurant deals. We even threw in our content director’s homemade chili recipe.

Everyone wins.

Grant’s Chili Recipe

INGREDIENTS

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 medium yellow onions, medium diced

1 medium red bell pepper, medium diced

1 medium green bell pepper, medium diced

1 medium yellow bell pepper, medium diced

6 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped or pressed

1/4 cup chili powder

1 tablespoon ground cumin

2 pounds lean ground beef

1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more as needed

1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes

1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce

2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed

For serving:

Shredded cheddar cheese

Thinly sliced scallions

Sour cream

1/4 cup pickled jalapeño

Hot sauce of your choosing

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onions and bell pepper, season with salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about eight minutes.
  • Add the garlic, chili powder and cumin. Stir to coat the vegetables. Cook about one minute. Add the ground beef and salt and cook, breaking up the meat, about seven minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to the slow cooker, add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and beans, stir to combine. Cover and cook until the chili thickens and the flavors meld, about four to six hours on low.
  • Serve with cheese, scallions, jalapeños, hot sauce and sour cream fixings.
