Locals can attest to the North Fork’s penchant for inspiring creativity. Resident artists, crafters and artisans are not in short supply in a region of inescapable charm, which is not lost even on those who only call the North Fork home between flights to Miami and Milan.
Haute couture designer Phillip Lim — perennial fashion week darling and North Fork homeowner — recently told Vogue the area inspired his Fall 2018 Menswear collection.
“Phillip Lim has been feeling for the great outdoors lately,” Vogue wrote. “Since buying a house on the North Fork of Long Island, New York, a little over a year ago, the designer has been bringing his country living ways to work.”
The shoes, Lim noted in the article, were the starting point for his fall fashion line. Dubbed “The Ben,” the footwear is described in the article as a hybrid between Birkenstocks and Crocs.
