Grangebel Park in downtown Riverhead features views of the Peconic River, a small man-made waterfall and various sculptures.
Timothy Griffing, a distinguished member of the Riverhead community, built Grangebel Park in the late 1800s to surround his own residence, naming it after his three daughters Grace, Angeline, and Mabel. A portion of the park is now named for Milton L. Burns, a local World War I veteran and former Riverhead Town supervisor.
Even in the offseason, it’s nice to take a stroll through the park, take a break on the benches or watch the ducks.
