Get a rare look at four of the North Fork’s loveliest private gardens — including  the garden of Denis Schrader and Bill Smith, a northforker favorite — during the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days tour on Saturday, July 8.

The Garden Conservancy, which works to preserve beautiful gardens for public enjoyment, is hosting an “open day” on Long Island when gardens in Cutchogue, Mattituck and Jamesport will open their doors to visitors.

Admission is $7 at each private garden (children 12 and under are free). All proceeds benefit The Garden Conservancy. No reservations are required and the event is rain or shine. Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance on The Garden Conservancy’s website.

The Garden Conservancy hosts similar events in cities like Portland, Ore., Chicago and Martha’s Vineyard. The volunteer-run tours support the Garden Conservancy’s mission of preserving public gardens.

Along the North Fork tour you will find designer Conni Cross’ garden featuring five acres with a waterfall, four ponds and an aviary (look for the “Colored Eggs” sign.)
