The Netflix series “Jessica Jones,” a Marvel project about a former superhero turned private investigator who confronts her troubled past to stop a killer, filmed scenes for its second season at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead last Wednesday.

On Location Vacations, a website that tracks television and movie filming locations, connected the show to the local attraction. An aquarium representative confirmed Friday that filming did take place there that day, but could not share details about which project it was.

Riverhead Town allowed ABC Studios, one of the series’ production companies, along with Marvel Television and Tall Girls Productions, to use municipal parking on the shooting day, according to an agreement between the town and company.

The show’s first season debuted on Netflix in November 2015. The series brought home Marvel’s first Emmy win in 2016 with an award for its original main title theme music. Actress Krysten Ritter, who plays the dark, tough female lead, earned the Critics’ Choice Award for best actress in a drama series after the first season.

Season two of “Jessica Jones” is expected to be released no earlier than 2018, according to multiple reports.
