One of the world’s most influential fashion tastemakers says the North Fork is a great place for a holiday — it’s just not a hip one.

This description of the Nofo appears on page 24 of the Pre-Fall Collections 2017 edition of the Bergdorf Goodman catalogue, a special issue guest edited by BG fashion director Linda Fargo.

Fargo lists the North Fork as one of three places she returns “to again and again” for vacation, the other two being Capri and Positano, Italy. However, she says she doesn’t visit because it is considered cool.

“Decidedly unhip and unhappening, but it has other qualities — for my taste, better qualities,” she writes of the North Fork. “It’s all about farm stands, tomatoes, fresh doughnuts, Wickham’s pies, sailing, biking, sunning, enclaves of friends, the Sound, the Bay, picturesque vineyards and sky-watching. Pretty much the definition of summertime.”

We appreciate the sentiment, but anyone who has found themselves stuck in Sound Avenue traffic or tried to find parking in Greenport during a summer weekend knows the North Fork can no longer be considered “unhappening.” After all, it was good enough for Hannah Horvath — and at its peak Girls was considered a hipsters’ darling.

Other than that, the rest of the blurb rings true.

And being that this is a fashion publication, the page features several swimsuit and accessory options for your visit. Among the suggestions are $750 Fendi sandals, $455 Oliver Peoples sunglasses and a $500 Camilla beach cover-up. We assume that this is in case any on-trend fashionistas plan to visit our less-than-chic corner of the universe.

Of course, we are just kidding and most people would say they relish the North Fork’s position as the less glamorous side of the East End prongs.

The issue commemorates the opening of Linda’s at Bergdorf Goodman, a personally curated shop located on the fourth floor of the famed Fifth Avenue store.
