Let’s catch up on all the Greenport restaurant news you might have missed this season.

The new name for the restaurant that will take over the former Srimshaw site along the harborfront pier off Main Street will be Barbabianchi, according to Frank DeCarlo, the owner of the new business.
DeCarlo said that name is Italian for “white beard,” which makes sense, since he has a white beard. He is also the owner and chef of Peasant, an Italian restaurant in Manhattan.
He said he’s hoping to have the new Greenport restaurant open by June 1.
DeCarlo and his wife, Dulcinea Benson, appeared before the Greenport Village planning board Thursday. The new restaurant also will retain the same number of seats — 75 inside and 36 outside — as Scrimshaw.

Andy’s is soon opening at the former Rhumb Line location. The owners said they hope to create a comfortable atmosphere where workers can stop in on their lunch breaks and families can sit together and enjoy a nice meal.

Plans for The Lucky Bee, an outpost of the Manhattan pan-Asian restaurant with the same name, were recently announced for Greenport. The 100-seat restaurant will be casual, yet elegant, and feature both indoor and outdoor seating, according to co-owner Rupert Noffs. Expect seasonal, farm-to-table Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian dishes, he said.

The Olive Branch Café, a Mediterranean eatery, will soon open on Front Street. A self-serve cafe offering baked goods, breakfast, appetizers, wine and more will be established in one storefront, while another will be used as a kitchen. A third will house a sit-down restaurant. Outdoor seating will be available in the courtyard during warmer months.

Alison and Keith Bavaro of Shelter Island’s SALT will open the new restaurant PORT at the home of the former Blue Canoe on Third Street. The couple opened SALT, a laid-back waterfront restaurant where you’re just as likely to see a celebrity as a harelegger (that means native Islander), in 2012.

The restaurant at the Sound View hotel will be renovated and reborn as The Halyard. Galen Zamarra, chef and partner at Mas (Farmhouse), will oversee food and drink at the hotel and restaurant. A June opening is expected.

And the owners of Goldberg’s Famous Bagels and The Village Cheese Shop have both said they have plans to open a Greenport location.
