ABC 7 Eyewitness News thinks the North Fork might be the perfect place for you to explore this summer.
The NoFo was recently featured on the news program during a travel segment that aired on May 27.
“From the beaches to the vineyards to its historic towns, what’s not to love on Long Island’s North Fork,” asks ABC 7 reporter and anchor Sandra Bookman.
Pisacano summed up the region’s appeal in one sentence.
“The quality of life, the vineyards, the farms – still small town,” he said.
You’ll tons of sights of Greenport Village including the harbor, Claudio’s Clam Bar, the Shelter Island North Ferry, the shore along Long Island Sound and more in the one minute 32 second clip.
And while we think the North Fork stands on its own, the report couldn’t help but compare it to our more well-known neighbor to the south.
“In fact, the ‘un-Hamptons’ is what some like to call this area – a not so-subtle reference to the glitzier South Fork. Lifelong Greenport resident Tony Ficilli is among those who insist both forks have their charms,” Bookman said.
“If I want to get hectic, I go over to the Hamptons. You know they got the ocean. I think we got better bays and the sound and everything, you know. The Hamptons – they got the ocean,” Ficilli told the reporter.
The network is the latest mainstream media outlet to highlight this wonderful place we call home. Although the North Fork does get coverage throughout the year, around Memorial Day is when you start to see more and more articles.
Most recently Good Day New York featured Farm Country Kitchen owner Tom Carson who spoke about his restaurant to hosts Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly and the Wall Street Journal highlighted Paumanok Vineyards as one of 10 global sauvignon blanc bottles to try.
