This beach cottage in Greenport is near a private beach — perfect for swimming, fishing or kayaking.

And a one-car garage, with doors in the front and back of the structure, make it easy for homeowners to haul in items from the beach, such as kayaks and paddleboards, and store them. Residents can also moor their boats off of the beach and use a dinghy to reach their vessel, said listing agent JoAnn Wind of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.

“The best feature is the waterfront with 100 feet of sandy beach,” Wind said. “It is very nice and overlooks Shelter Island and Greenport.”

Nestled on Pipe’s Cove, the home is near a public access beach, but still features plenty of privacy, Wind said.

“The location is nice,” she said. “It’s a real community where you can see people taking walks and going down to the beach. It’s really a kind of quiet, friendly, walking neighborhood.”

Built in the 1950s, the three-bedroom, one-bathroom house features original wood floors, wood paneled walls and an old stone fireplace. There’s also a back deck that overlooks the .97 acre property and private beach.

It all gives the 1,000 square foot home a vintage, mid-century vibe.

“It has real wood paneling and that old beach cottage feel,” Wind said.

The house, located on Bay Shore Road, is listed at $1,159,000. View the listing here.
