Get ready to enjoy dishes smoked and roasted over the burning wood of North Fork grape vine clippings.

Jamesport Vineyards will host its second annual “Burning of the Vines” Celebration at the Main Road vineyard on Saturday, June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Expect new release wines, current favorites as well as pours of library offerings during the cocktail party-style reception. North Fork arrosticini (a type of barbecue skewer originating in the Abruzzo region of Italy) will be served. Jamesport Vineyards chef Dan Edgett will be cooking various meats, seafoods and vegetables over the pruned branches from the last year.

“[Arrosticini] is especially popular in Italy during festive summer months when people spend warm nights with friends noshing and drinking wine till the early morning hours,” said Jamesport Vineyards chef Dan Edgett. “It’s a great way to celebrate the harvest we had and to get excited about the year ahead.”

The first burning of the vines party was held last year and also marked the 30th anniversary of the vineyard. More than 80 wine lovers, including Jamesport Vineyards wine club members came from as far away as Connecticut to celebrate the vineyard’s special anniversary and to taste the new release last year.

“Last year’s Burning of the Vines was a fun kickoff to the season so we had to bring it back with a twist,” Edgett said.

The event is $75 per person for the general public and $60 per person for wine club members. To reserve your spot call (631) 722-5256 or email [email protected].

Can’t make it to the event? Jamesport will once again host events from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday nights this summer. Expect fresh flatbread pies from their pizza oven and other small plates.

Jamesport Vineyards is located at 1216 Main Road, Jamesport.
