The Bridge Lane Wine tasting room is a stop on the Taste North Fork tour.

North Fork visitors can experience some of the area’s most popular spots ahead of the busier summer season during this weekend’s “Taste the North Fork” event.

A free shuttle service will round two bus loops on Saturday, April 8 and Sunday, April 9, beginning around noon at the Long Island Railroad stations in Mattituck and Greenport. The routes, which can also be followed by car, will include drop-off locations at wineries, restaurants and shops in Mattituck, Cutchogue and Greenport.

Some stops are within walking-distance of one another and some will include pop-art shows and live music, noted North Fork Promotion Council executive director Abigail Field. The organization is sponsoring the event.

“Generally, what we’re trying to do is get people to sample our wineries safely and explore our downtowns very easily,” Field said. “While one of our big draws is our excellent wineries, we are of course far more than that. We are showcasing our best.”

She added that people can expect “more than they could possibly experience in one afternoon” and should try to come out both days or stay overnight locally.

The tour includes stops at, but is not limited to, the following locations: Palmer Vineyards, Pindar Vineyards, Caci North Fork, Shinn Estate Vineyard, Martha Clara Vineyards and Waters Crest Winery.

Those who plan to attend are encouraged to send a message to the promotion council, whether via Facebook page or by email at [email protected] for a preliminary head count of the weekend-long event.

More information, including maps of the shuttle routes and a list of participating business, can be found by visiting the promotion councils’s website.
