For the 11th year, local artists and poets will team up to raise money for the historic Poquatuck Hall in Orient.

On Saturday, April 1, poets will partner with artists and recite verse inspired by the artists’ work. The event begins at 7 p.m. at Poquatuck Hall and admission costs $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door and guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages and appetizers to share.

During each reading, the artist’s work will be on display so the audience can see the inspiration that led to the collaboration. This genre is called ekphrastic poetry, which means an image inspires a poem.

This year’s poets include David Berson, Billy Hands, Jason N. Hefter, Stella Kamakaris and Yvonne Lieblein, with Suffolk County Poet Laureate Robert J. Savino and former Suffolk County Poets Laureate Pramila Venkaetswaran and Ed Stever.

The artists are Chris Hamilton, Kara Hoblin, Gail F. Horton, Kristian Igelesias, Holly Mastrangelo, Estefany Molina and Nadira Vlaun, with William Steeple Davis artist-in-residence Elizabeth Malunowicz and former William Steeple Davis artist Sarah Prescott.

For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Poquatuck Hall is located at 1160 Skippers Lane, Orient.
