The Coffee Pot Cellars Winasaur — everyone’s favorite Brontosaurus-shaped, cork-studded topiary — now has its own song and music video.

For those who don’t know, the Winasaur, a seven-foot tall, 18-foot long public art project, is the brainchild of Coffee Pot Cellars co-owner Laura Klahre. Tasting room visitors and Coffee Pot fans are asked to decorate used wine corks, which are wrapped around the sculpture to “flesh out” its body.

To date, 3,100 corks have been strung along the Winasaur’s frame. Klahre estimates it will take about 6,000 more corks and a year and a half to complete it.

A song, she thought, was a natural progression for the project.

“It just seemed like an organic next step,” said Klahre, who is also a beekeeper. “To have art in one’s life is just great.”

Singer Rorie Kelly debuted “I’m a Little Winasaur,” sung to the tune of Jonathan Richman’s 1978 song “I’m a Little Dinosaur,” on her YouTube page last week.

Kelly, a Long Island-based indie rocker, performed the acoustic track with her band, The Triceratones. She said she was happy to perform as Klahre had made a contribution to the crowd funding campaign for her latest album, “Rising Rising Rising.”

Also, she’s a self-described “dinosaur nerd.”

“This combines dinosaurs, wine and music,” Kelly said. “Those are my three favorite things.”

The quartet shot the two-minute ditty at the winery’s Cutchogue tasting room and nearby vineyards. Coffee Pot customers will notice Klahre, her winemaker husband, Adam Suprenant, and their pug and mascot, Beasley, in the video.

Between shooting, editing by brother-and-sister filmmakers Katelyn and Thomas LaGrega and getting permission from Jonathan Richman to use his song, the whole project took nearly two years to complete, Klahre said.

Give it a listen here and you just might be humming “I’m a Little Winasaur” for the rest of the day.

In other news, Coffee Pot Cellars will release its first rosé next month. They only made 80 cases of the wine, which is cabernet sauvignon-based with a bit of merlot.
