Head to Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. in Peconic on Friday, Feb. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., when the brewery will host a “Yappy Hour” in conjunction with the Greenport shop Harbor Pet.
Guests are invited to attend with their dogs, who will be greeted with samples of “Grrowlers” made by local pet food company Life is Gruff.
Grrowlers are a new line of treats made by Harbor Pet and the Life is Grruff brand in collaboration with Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. The biscuits are made using wet brewer’s yeast left over from beer production, which the makers say provide healthy ingredients to canines.
Greenport Harbor tastings and pints will be available on Feb. 10, along with the usual selection for human attendees. As for the pups, bring them dressed in anything pink or red and they will receive a Valentine’s Day cookie and have the chance to win a raffle prize.
“What’s better than dogs and beer? This event is meant to get people out there for a meet-up with their pets,” said Kim Loper, co-owner of Harbor Pet. “This is the first of more Yappy Hours we will host, leading up to a bigger event in the spring celebrating our collaboration with the brewery.”
The Feb. 10 event is free. Dogs should be well behaved and leashed (no retractable leashes.)
And for V-Day, Greenport Harbor will also host its third annual Valentine’s Day event on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be oyster and beer specials.
