Boom Burger is bringing fresh, affordable comfort food to the North Fork.
By Christmas, owners Anthony Catanzaro and Anthony Cicogna hope to be serving hamburgers, hot wings, milkshakes and fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in Mattituck.
The comic-book-themed burger shop, which has a sister location in Westhampton, will open in the Mattituck Plaza storefront that most recently housed Greek Bites.
“We just love burgers,” Cicogna said. “Why not cook something you love and have fun doing it?”
The restaurant’s beef is sourced from Justin’s Chop Shop in Westhampton and will feature the same blend of cuts served at the South Fork location, Cicogna said. According to the owners, it’s freshly ground every day.
The pair of restaurant industry vets met while working for Big City Burgers, a store with a similar concept located at the sites of their current business. Those eateries went out of business in 2012 after being open for just six months.
“We said, ‘Why don’t we put our money together and open our own place?’ ” Cicogna said.
“It’s almost like retracing our steps,” Catanzaro added.
The owners plan a 16- to 20-seat dine-in and takeout restaurant for the 950-square-foot space. The menu features 20 types of specialty burgers, plus chicken sandwiches, Philly cheese steaks, salads, fried pickles, fried Oreos and fried Nutella sandwiches. Burgers range from $3.99 for a single patty to $14.99 for a specialty burger with fries.
Operating just two restaurants allows the business partners to focus on quality, Cicogna said.
“It’s like coming over to our house,” he said. “We want to feed you and make sure everything is great.”
