Wake up with the fishes after an adventurous overnight at the Long Island Aquarium next month.

The Riverhead aquarium will host a family sleepover featuring a penguin presentation on Thursday, February 23, beginning at 6 p.m.

Families participating in this pajama party will enjoy a buffet dinner prepared by the catering team, as well as craft activities. At bedtime, kids can choose to unroll their sleeping bag next to the 120,000 gallon shark tank, alongside the colorful Best Buddies exhibit, or near the giant Pacific octopus.

“Our sleepovers are fun and interesting for kids and their parents.” said Darlene Puntillo, Long Island Aquarium marketing director. “We will have an educator and an aquarist at this event. So, guests will be able to have in-depth conversations about penguins, their habitat and how they interact with each other.”

The aquarium’s African penguins, which weigh five to eight pounds each, are one of the attraction’s most charming exhibits.

“It’s a lot like a sitcom around here with our penguins and their personalities,” Puntillo said.

Continental breakfast will be served the following morning at 7 a.m.

Tickets are $64.95 per person or $49.95 for members. Children two and under are free. Reservations are required. Limited space is available.
