Three retail stores dedicated to vintage and repurposed goods opened on Main Road in Southold in 2016.

The three businesses joined established nearby shops like White Flower Farmhouse and Lost and Found in making Southold a top destination for retro finds.

TouchGOODS, which opened in March, offers a mix of vintage items, custom furniture and lighting — all curated by owner Norine Pennacchia. The store’s name plays off that of another family business, Touch of Venice restaurant in Cutchogue, owned by Pennacchia’s husband, Brian.

After spending seven years selling their repurposed furniture out of the Gallery 429 store in Greenport, husband-and-wife team Rory Klinge and Carol Lindley were ready to go it alone. In May they opened re:design.

Klinge creates and builds brand-new furniture pieces from old items. He and Lindley call themselves “pickers” — people who buy and re-sell old, retro or vintage items. Many of their finds come from estate sales, which they also run themselves.

Finally, in October, sisters Laura Hansen and Susan Hansen Fasano brought their country chic style to Southold in the form of a pop-up store, Pearl Cottage.

Described as a combination of rustic and refined, Pearl Cottage, which had a location in Sayville that the owners sold, specializes in vintage and repurposed furniture, home accents and gifts.
