Santa, the elves and his magical reindeer are back for a second Spirit of the Holidays weekend on the North Fork.

Once again Hilton Garden Inn and Spirits Promise Equine Rescue Program are teaming up to host a magical holiday weekend for children.

“It was such a success last year,” said Paul Jordan, director of sales for Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead. “We were wondering if it was going to take off a second year and it really did. So many people who did it last year have already rebooked to bring their kids back this year.”

For two Saturdays in December, kids and their families can enjoy a morning of crafts and cookie baking at the hotel. Then they’ll be transported to Spirits Promise Horse Rescue Farm in Riverhead in holiday-decorated shuttle buses.

There they’ll get a tour of the farm and a chance to feed the animals. Later they’ll enjoy hot chocolate, cider and snacks, while listening to holiday stories told by Mrs. Claus, and, of course, there’s a very special visit from Santa Claus himself.

On hand to make the day extra special will be Santa’s elves, both at the hotel and at the farm, plus all the beautiful horses, donkeys and ponies at Spirit’s Promise.

After their day with Santa, the families will head back to the hotel for a holiday dinner. Then they’ll finish off the evening either watching holiday movies or swimming in the pool. An overnight stay and a full breakfast in the morning is included in the package.

Spirit of the Holidays packages start at $229 for two, $309 for a family of four. It includes crafts and baking at the hotel, the trip to Spirit’s Promise, dinner, a hotel room and breakfast in the morning. Space is still available for both December 10 and December 17.

Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead is located at 2038 Old Country Road in Riverhead. For more information about the Spirits of the Holidays package or to make a reservation, call (631) 727-2733.
