Ready or not, here comes Halloween. From haunted houses to ghostly corn mazes to costume parties, there is something for everyone on the North Fork and Shelter Island this spooky season.

Halloween at the Long Island Aquarium
Celebrate Halloween all day at the Long Island Aquarium on Saturday, Oct. 29
The Broomsticks and Barnacles party runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All “buoys” and “ghouls” in costume will get 50 percent off admission with a paying adult. There will be a costume parade, the Suffolk County Cooperative Library will be there with its 3-D Printer and animals will visit from both The Suffolk County Farm and the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons. There will also be trick-or-treating throughout the Aquarium, a penguin costume parade, games, raffle prizes, and much more.
Later in the evening, celebrate Halloween in high fashion at the Long Island Aquarium’s Masquerade Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight. Inside the elegant Sea Star Ballroom guests can enjoy an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, buffet stations, a DJ, dancing and more entertainment.

Darkside Haunted House
If you like haunted houses, few are better than Darkside Haunted House and Village in Wading River.
Named one of Buzzfeed.com’s 25 most popular haunted houses in America, this place does not disappoint.
Tickets are $25 for evening admission, $10 for daytime admission and $7 for the haunted village only. Check their website for a schedule.

Long Ireland Beer Company’s 2nd Annual Halloween Party
Celebrate the holiday with Long Ireland Beer Company on Friday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 11 p.m.
There will be live music by “Beer Money,” food available for purchase and, of course, plenty of beer. Tickets are $25 per person and include admission and two beer tickets. Costumes are required and there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes awarded to the best ensembles.

Greenport Halloween Parade
Greenport Village will host a Halloween costume parade on Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade steps off in Mitchell Park near the carousel at 11 a.m.
There will be prizes for best costumes and all are invited to attend and march.

Hallockville Museum Farm Spooky Night Tour
Take a tour through the Hallockville farmhouse in the dead of night the weekend of Friday, Oct. 21, through Sunday, Oct. 23.
From 4 to 7 p.m. each night, storytellers will lead visitors through a spooky interactive tour featuring many ghostly encounters with historical characters during a family-friendly experience. The 50-minute tour can only be booked in advance and will take place rain or shine.
Tickets are $10 ($8 for members.) Children 10 and under are free.

Two Halloween Excursions to Bug Lighthouse
Celebrate Halloween with a tour of Long Beach Bar “Bug” Lighthouse on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Dress up and party at the lighthouse, which will be decorated in ghoulish decor, from 4 to 6 p.m. Enjoy wine and cheese, listen to ghost stories, participate in a costume contest and explore the lighthouse.
This adults-only event is $50, or $45 for seniors. It includes admission to Bug Lighthouse, a round-trip boat trip, refreshments and prizes at the museum before and after the cruise.
Then, on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. families can explore the lighthouse, hear ghost stories, participate in a costume contest, play games and enjoy cider and snacks. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for kids 15 and under. You can also pay the family special of $60 for two adults and two kids.

Harbes Spooky Night Maze
Visit Harbes Family Orchard in Riverhead for a night of outdoor fun. Their corn maze has gone over to the dark side, turning into a spooky nighttime maze. Visitors can bring flashlights for a night of thrills.
Harbes Spooky Night Maze is open every Saturday and Sunday now until Oct. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $13.95 per person.

Historic Haunts of Long Island and Book Signing
Hear ghost stories and learn about haunted spots on Long Island at the Shelter Island Historical Society.
Author and historian Kerriann Flanagan Brosky’s will discuss her latest book, “Historic Haunts of Long Island: Ghosts and Legends from the Gold Coast to Montauk Point”at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.
Brosky will also discuss places she has researched and investigated with medium and paranormal investigator Joe Giaquinto. The pair will also discuss Long Island’s haunted history. A book signing will follow.

Oysterponds Fall Festival
Celebrate fall and Halloween with Oysterponds Historical Society on Saturday, Oct. 29.
This family-friendly event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include spooky stories, live music, games, crafts, a scavenger hunt and much more. There is no fee to attend.
At 2 p.m., there will be a graveyard talk and tour. At 5 p.m., the local PTA will host trick-or-treating, a costume contest and potluck dinner at Poquatuck Hall.

Riverhead Halloween Fest
Instead of the Poe Festival, locals can enjoy a full day of family fun and nighttime happenings in downtown Riverhead.
The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 29.
A lightpost decorating contest returns, as does the annual costumed Halloween parade. In the afternoon, there will be trick-or-treating for kids, a jack-o’-lantern display and holiday specials at restaurants like PeraBell and Jerry & the Mermaid. In the evening, attend a costumed dance party at Joe’s Garage & Grill, see “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Suffolk Theater and much more.
