Macari Vineyards Rosé 2015, $19
Macari’s Rosé is my local favorite. It’s fruity and acid-driven, but with a structured and full body. More savory and flavorful rosés like this one are not just for the summer heat, but a great fall season alternative to a white or red. A well-made rosé can pair with a diversity of foods. I recommend this wine with Thanksgiving dinner.

The Lenz Winery Old Vines Gewürztraminer 2010, $30
The Old Vines Gewürztraminer is a rich, medium-bodied wine with notes of apricot and fresh pineapple and hints of ginger. I recommend pairing it with mussels in a Thai sauce. The flavors make a wonderful match.

Croteaux Vineyards Merlot 181 Rosé 2015, $20
Rosé is a wine that should be enjoyed year-round, especially in the fall. This one is my go-to for its minerality, reminiscent of East End living. It’s easy drinking, dry and pairs well with pretty much any food.

Bedell Cellars Cabernet Franc 2014, $45
I may be the only non-cabernet sauvignon drinker on the North Fork, perhaps in the entire country. I much prefer cabernet franc, particularly Bedell’s, in the fall when there’s just enough chill in the air for this varietal to warm you. It is always great with grilled meats. I will be drinking this alongside a fried chicken biscuit with a hit of Sriracha and a good helping of stone-ground grits.

Wölffer Estate Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2013, $24
Long Island cabernet franc has an earthy quality that you will only find here. It is fall in a bottle and Wölffer does it really well. I will be pairing this one with duck confit tortellini from The Ram’s Head Inn. It also pairs well with dark chocolate.

One Woman Wines Gewürztraminer 2015, $28
You can tell in the flavor that quality prevails with One Woman wines. I really enjoy the gewürztraminer. This wine isn’t too acidic and has a smooth floral note. It finishes with qualities that remind you of late summer and pairs with spicy dishes such as our shrimp curry bowl with coconut broth or the rich, spicy and salty shrimp toast served with a friseé salad.
